Absolutely loved being in Boston. Absolutely loved that Shelbey and Blake were with us.

Had a ton of fun overall, but this was simply not a good race for me.

Did a few things wrong nutritional wise. Was on a freaking dump truck load of antihistamines and decongestants. Also, I was wearing a shoe that I had never raced in before (Hoka Hupana) since the shoe I LOVE is no longer in production.

Did okay through mile 17 when my body began to fight me. Began to cramp like crazy. Seriously, any time the incline would change my calves would seize. It seemed like I was trying to stomp them out about every 800 meters. I couldn't stop because that was worse. Ugh!

Finally crossed the finish line. Stopped to get a chocolate refuel drink and the cramping became ridiculous. I fell to the ground and a volunteer immediately approached with a wheelchair. I told them that I was fine and that I was just cramping but when I tried to stand up it happened again and they wheeled me off. Ha!!!

In the med tent they gave me 2 cups of vegetable broth. Which remarkably tasted amazing!!! I am not sure that I have ever had vegetable broth. Seriously though, it was delicious. Anyways, I was out of there in about 20 minutes when all the cramping had stopped.

The good news is as follows:

I felt AWESOME the following day! Like, I remember saying that I have never felt so good the day after a marathon.

I think I'm going to wait a while before doing Boston again though. Maybe venture out to some other destination marathons. :-)

He Teena, It's but 2 months - 4 days & 15 hours till the SGM! Hows your training coming along?

From Tom Slick on Thu, Aug 24, 2017 at 17:36:01 from 174.148.243.93

Ms. Teena, are you doing the SGM '17?

From Teena Marie on Thu, Aug 24, 2017 at 20:30:56 from 166.170.5.95

Hey there, Slick!!! Yep, that's the plan. I'm a little behind on my blog but I am still running! You?

From Tom Slick on Fri, Aug 25, 2017 at 11:27:11 from 173.117.177.88

I won't be there this year (2017) but I will be there next year (2018). I'm doing the Huntsville Full Monte on Sept 16, 2017, it's a two-fer for Boston. Two BQ's for one race this year!

From Teena Marie on Fri, Aug 25, 2017 at 15:24:42 from 166.170.5.95

I'm considering running Huntsville since I will be in SLC that weekend and need a long run anyways. :-) Have you run it before?

From Tom Slick on Fri, Aug 25, 2017 at 18:40:03 from 174.148.160.166

Teena - I haven't run the Full Monte before but from all the reports it's a pretty fast marathon. Smooth is going to run this one!

From Tom Slick on Tue, Sep 19, 2017 at 09:04:23 from 174.148.154.64

OK Ms Teena, It was good to see you at the Full Monte now it's time to enter your race report here on the FRB. I realize that you ran so fast that you probably didn't get to see much of the course but we all want to hear about your experience anyway!!!!

From Tom Slick on Mon, Oct 09, 2017 at 09:23:55 from 174.148.246.80

Hey Ms.Teena, you ever going to do a Full Monte or St Geo Marathon report?

From Tom Slick on Mon, Jan 08, 2018 at 16:28:17 from 174.148.60.190

Hey Ms Gumpers, Where are you?

From Rhett on Wed, May 09, 2018 at 11:21:15 from 66.185.238.62

Long time no blog Teena. I hope you and your family are well.

From Teena Marie on Sat, May 12, 2018 at 12:05:32 from 65.130.48.246

I have been horrible about blogging! Horrible! But I am alive and well and enjoying life! Kids and hubby are also doing well and we are loving St. George. Bought a road bike about 6 weeks ago and a wetsuit about 4 weeks ago and decided to see if I could handle the brutal course of the Half Ironman here in St. George. IT WAS SO FUN!!! I enjoyed every single second of it. Did not drown! Rode better than I thought I would. Tanked during the run (zero energy) but seriously LOVED it!

From Rhett on Sat, May 12, 2018 at 18:19:20 from 66.185.237.66

Nice Teena. That is not a lot of time to prep for a half IM. You must be a natural. It’s great to hear that you and your family are doing well. Check in with us every now and then and give us an update.

From Tom Slick on Mon, Jul 09, 2018 at 14:17:30 from 174.148.211.188

From Tom Slick on Thu, Jul 19, 2018 at 08:19:52 from 173.117.153.186

Just checking on you, what's up, you tired of us?

From Teena Marie on Thu, Jul 19, 2018 at 20:13:55 from 166.137.246.47

Ha ha!! Here’s the truth ... I have a new phone and couldn’t remember my password! True!

Yep, running SGM! You?

From Tom Slick on Fri, Jul 20, 2018 at 06:13:20 from 66.87.126.11

I’m relieved to hear that you and yours are ok and doing well. Ya know it’s ok to write your passwords down in a planner as a quick reminder of what they are? There are so many of them how on gods green earth could anybody just remember them? Good to finally hear your doing the SGM, so am I. How’s the training going in all that heat down there?

From Tom Slick on Fri, Sep 14, 2018 at 03:39:58 from 66.87.126.158

Well Ms Teena (GumpChump) what’s going on down there in Dixie? Got any plans for October 6th 2018 that might include The local Marathon? Are you running it ? I have spoken with RAD and she’s running SGM ‘18 and of course I’m returning for my 14 run at SGM. OK woman, let’s hear from you!

From Tom Slick on Mon, Mar 18, 2019 at 16:39:36 from 174.148.94.173

Yo Teena, are you doing the 2019 Boston Marathon?

From Tom Slick on Mon, Aug 05, 2019 at 14:37:04 from 174.148.215.226

Teena - Have you heard from Smooth?

From Tom Slick on Wed, Mar 04, 2020 at 06:24:50 from 174.148.70.235

Hey Ms. Teena, are you still running around St Geo?
