The run down is this: I am super happy with my time! A 56 seconds distance PR and exactly a 4 minute course PR. :) I was worried sick about my legs but am pleased with how they held up. Limping now, but totally worth it (and my kids found me an awesome walking stick in the woods)! Ironically my left leg (that I have had problems with for a couple of weeks) did spectacularly, but my right leg (sartorius) gave me a lot of trouble. I was very worried in the beginning but the pain didn't get much worse until about mile 20ish. By then it was like -- oh well (trying to adopt JulieC's toughness). Once again the course really kicked my butt the last few miles taking my AP way down ... but that's just because I stink at toughing out the last few miles! :)

Couple more items of business:

1. LOVED taking the bus from Eden and getting the extra sleep!

2. LOVED seeing my family at the halfway point and the finish line!

3. LOVED seeing my SSF (Smooth) at the finish line! She is a trooper!!! :)

4. LOVED spending time with the coolest SIL (andrea27.fastrunningblog.com) in the world (who yes, I wore twinsy outfits with -- cheesy? Perhaps ... but dang we looked good)!!! :)

5. LOVED how well so many raced today!!! Congrats to you all!!! :) :) :)

Happy Saturday!!!

(And why does Ogden always measure long???)

Great job on the PRs Tina! I watched you come in you were running strong.

From Jake K on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 18:50:29 from 67.182.215.126

Congrats on the PR Teena!!! :-)

From Kam on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 19:08:52 from 65.130.9.18

No tangents in the canyon, or around the lake. Nicely done, Teena. You show a lot of toughness.

From JulieC on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 19:44:22 from 70.56.111.32

SUPER CONGRATS!! the course measures long from the tangents they have to measure but then you run on the other side and can't run the tangents. That was how it was explained on Kelli's blog. No worries you really ran well!! sorry about your leg!! happy recovery!!

From Maynard on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 21:00:31 from 71.213.4.12

A) Congrats! You are one totally awesome runner!

B) How is it that I never saw you once up at the start?!

From Teena Marie on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 21:31:01 from 174.255.132.175

Tom- I definitely didn't feel strong at the finish, so thanks!

Jake, Kam and Julie- Thanks! Well that is silly that they measure from areas noone is even allowed to run!

Maynard- A) Thanks! B) The beauty of riding on the lady bus from Eden. Didn't even get up to the starting line until past 6:30! In fact there were only 3 of us on it! Beautiful! Although I was at the POPS when the gun went off. That was not ideal. :-)

From allie on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 21:31:58 from 174.23.154.194

SSF - CONGRATZ on the awesome race and

PRs! What a perfect weekend for you! Very very proud of your accomplishments! You were so so so very speedy and finished looking so pretty and beautiful. :) Love you!

Thanks Allie and Rob! :-)

SSF, I am so sorry it was such a rough day for you! You are an amazing woman to stay at the finish line for so long to cheer everybody in. Very classy. I love you! Speedy healing my friend. LLL LLL LLL.

From DaleG on Sat, May 19, 2012 at 23:56:10 from 71.199.57.238

Congrats on the PR and for getting to sleep in. I bet that was nice.

I hope your leg heals up quickly.

From Fritz on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 00:46:34 from 67.182.226.25

Great race Teena! I was wondering why you weren't at the start but I guess you had a valid excuse. :) I hope your left, and right leg get better soon. My garmin measured .15 too long but that was better than the .3 too long that I saw last year. I think we just need to get better at cutting corners.

From timp on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 07:41:41 from 99.110.188.230

great job on the PR Teena!!

From Steve on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 08:23:12 from 66.87.66.46

Sweet run! Hope that leg heals up. Ogden needs to certify their course on what they make you run. It's nuts!

From jtshad on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 08:26:11 from 69.20.183.178

Wow, congrats on the PR and very strong race! Awesome performance, Teena!

From Tom Slick on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 08:56:44 from 69.171.160.103

Well done Ms. Gumpster!

From Andy on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 11:10:50 from 174.52.172.236

Congratulations on the PR. Another very well run race. Just out of curiousity, how would one go about getting on the lady bus from Eden?

From Rachelle on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 14:08:32 from 66.7.127.115

Great race Teena! I am very impressed with how tough you are. Way to go!!

From Teena Marie on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 17:31:56 from 174.27.218.198

Dale~

Thanks!!! I hope it heals quickly as well: like in 14 hours since my first day of my internship starts then!!!!! Not sure what patients will think about a student physical therapist that can't walk without a significant limp. :)

Fritz~

Maybe next year it will only measure .075 too long for you!! :)

Tim~

Thanks a million! :)

Steve~

Agreed ... nuts! :)

Jeff~

Lotsa thanks! :)

Slick~

It was so fun seeing you at the finish!! Missed the good 'ol traditional slap on the course though! :)

Andy~

To get on the late bus you have to arrive at 6:01 (right after the other buses left)! They told me to be there by no later than 6. I planned on 5:45 but we ran into 3 road blocks before we finally convinced an officer to let us through. It was crazy!!!! I honestly thought I was not going to make it.

Rachell~

I am not so tough as I make myself sound. I always talk myself up!!! Hee Hee! :)

From Andy on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 20:24:58 from 208.54.4.178

You called it the "lady" bus in your comment to Maynard. I thought it was something else.

From Toby on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 20:26:50 from 199.101.229.6

Way to go Teena! You and Annie looked darling in your matching outfits! Hooray for having your family there and running a PR!

From Julie on Sun, May 20, 2012 at 21:02:12 from 75.162.222.61

I thought that might be you flying past me at mile 1. You looked so strong. Congratulation on a great race and a PR.

From RAD on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 00:09:22 from 98.202.23.178

Awesome work Teena! I can't believe you were in a crap fest like I was, but you just flew by. I tell ya, I was whining and you were running - good example for me to follow! You ARE the master :) Congrats on a great PR and I hope the internship goes well tomorrow. Enjoy the pain, you earned it :)

From Bec on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 10:28:00 from 68.206.133.141

A PR!!!! Excellent, excellent work Teena. The thought of you running always makes me smile. You just give it everything and you blow up the course. So awesome, way to go!

From Eric Day on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 10:39:35 from 189.198.206.81

Awesome Teena, just awesome.

And yes, it will be funny to see a therapist who can't walk properly. You should post a video on youtube.

From Rhett on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 15:39:47 from 170.215.58.122

Awesome Teena! That is a huge PR. All that triathlon training is paying off with your running. You rocked it!!

From Andrea on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 16:10:11 from 72.37.171.52

So proud of you Teena! Great job on a new PR and it sounds like you had a great time too!

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 18:12:55 from 174.27.218.198

Andy~ SO SO SO FUNNY!!! Stupid smart phone! :)

Toby~ Thanks!!! It was fun seeing you for a moment! :)

Julie~ I wish you would have hollered!! I feel like I haven't seen you FOREVER!!! :)

Rachel~ I wasn't totally in a crapfest. I probably made it sound worse than it was. Now Boston two years ago ... that was painful. This would only be about a 4.37/10 on the crapfest scale! :)

Bec~ You just made my day!! What a nice comment!! Thank you! :)

Eric~ NO WAY would I post a video of what I looked like today. It was quite amusing. The patients actually got a good kick out of it! :)

Rhett~ I was very happy because I really didn't know how the less miles more cross-training was going to pan out. :)

Andrea~ Thanks!!! I did have a lot of fun! Fun with my family, SIL, brother, friends, other runners, etc. A good weekend for sure!! :)

From Brent on Mon, May 21, 2012 at 20:11:13 from 66.7.127.67

T NA NA - 1,000 commando points for the PR, you should have another PR this year. Measure the tangents and then make you run on the right side. The darn race director should measure the course as required to run on the north side of the lake.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

From fly on the Wall on Tue, May 22, 2012 at 11:26:24 from 204.113.19.47

You are on fire! According to Sasha's race time predictor, 3:26:06 at Ogden is equivalent to 3:17:22 at St. George! Don't get hurt, train right, and run sub 3:15 in October!

Sorry to have missed you. I had to run a post race exit PR.

My Garmin said 26.36 but I forgot to stop it at the finish line, so I would think the course was correct.... However, I wonder if the course tangents are measured when accounting for the lane closures in the canyon and around the lake?

From Kelli on Tue, May 22, 2012 at 14:27:33 from 71.219.97.214

I was told that the course was certified using tangents that the runners are actually NOT allowed to run due to the one way traffic. My garmin was right on until about mile 11 and then it slowly got more and more off. 26.4 for me and I am counting that last .2 in figuring my avg pace!!!

You and Andrea did look cute and NOT dorky!

Thanks for all of the pep talks. ;o) You are great.

And congrats on a PR!

From fly on the Wall on Wed, May 23, 2012 at 10:13:24 from 204.113.19.47

From Bill's comment on Kelli's race report: "...We re-certified the course again this year because of the change of getting off the trail early and running down Park to Washington. Several years back, we did measure using both lanes coming down the ogden canyon, but the last 3 times we have measured the course have only used the west bound lanes and stayed North of DBL yellow lines. So that is not the reason you get a long reading on your garmin. As the web site for garmin states, they are about 95% accurate. Throw in Canyons with signal interference and it has to guess part of the time. I take over 18,000 measurements each mile with a jones counter. They take a few hundred readings during that same mile. With USATF rules I also have a safety factor added to ensure you run at least the advertised distance. The course is measured twice and both measurements must be within .0008 of each other to be certified. It is hard for a runner to run as tight of tangents as I ride the course. First, you can't run as close to the wall as I can ride. We study the shortest lines when we measure and most just follow the flow of the race while running. I do know one thing, as a certifier I would much rather have a course long than short in all cases. If you set a record and found out it was short, the record would be null. A few years back, a race was short and many set huge PR's and never even knew why. The start was put in the wrong place. And it was a quarter mile short. Just know that when you run a certified course you covered the distance you needed and got your moneys worth."

Hi SSF! How was your first week of internship? LLL LLL LLL LLL LLL

From glidergirl on Mon, May 28, 2012 at 11:17:56 from 71.35.231.152

Congrats on such a great race!! :) I'm SO glad you felt good about it and that you just plain felt good. :) You are awesome! :) Hope you are having a good day off school today.

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 28, 2012 at 21:32:24 from 174.27.218.198

Thanks you all!! :) :) :)

SSF~

Great first week of my internship but very tiring. Ended up with 55 hours between the clinic and home health care plus an additional 10 hours or so of charting that I had to finish up at home. BUT I love it!!! (Not the hours ... but the patients and caring for them.) The past week really confirmed to me why I want to be a physical therapist. :) Luvs!
