Very happy with this race. :)

Condo alarm did not go off. Woke up on my own a little past six o'clock and said, "Holy Crap! It's a little past six o'clock!" Threw on some running clothes and arrived just in time to find Smooth before she was off!!! I also was lucky enough to see a bunch of others (Maynard, Rob, Kelli, Rachel, Karen, Bill) ... very cool. :)

Next thing I knew I was running the Half. :)

To keep it simple the plan was to really try and run my dream pace for SGM (which meant I really wanted to come in under 1:40 but would have been happy with anything under a 1:43). I ran hard. Not to the point that I ever felt sick but hard. It was perfect and I felt great. Ideally with SGM's net downhill I will be able to hold this for 26.2. That may be too lofty of a goal ... but who cares ... I am going to try. :)

Unlike Kelli I was REALLY hoping that the overall three would not have been included in the AG awards because I really like shiny things and the only time I get them is when they take the overall three out.  But alas, it was not to be.

Another one of the GREAT things about running the half is being able to see everyone finish the full! It was awesome seeing Kelli, Fly, Smooth and her girls (RAD and Karen)!

Finished the day with golf at Wasatch Mountain and dinner at Tarahumara (had to eat there ... Born to Run ... it was EXCELLENT)! :)

Good times!!! :) :) :)

Maynard (Bradley) after a PCM PR :)

Fly being knighted! :)

Kelli and Scott! SO CUTE!! :)

RAD and Smooth!! Did they really run a marathon? They look AWESOME! :)

Me. :)

It was wonderful to see you Teena! Congrats on a well run race. Sorry about the bling, I'm a little more like you. I like when the top 3 get pulled out. Maybe it is because then I get prizes too :)

From Smooth on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 06:29:33 from 75.165.251.74

Congratulations for running a perfect race! Very very awesome! 3:20 at SGM here you come! :) :) :) :) :)

I was so happy to see you! Thank you for hanging around till we finish! It meant the world to me! Love you!!! :)

Rachel~

Nice to see you, too. :) How is your foot today?

Smooth~

When I woke up past six o'clock I was so mad because I thought I would not see you before the race. I got ready faster than I have ever gotten ready for a run ever (let alone a race). :) As soon as I got to the hotel area I started screaming, "Smooth!" :)

Wow Teena, you did great, like always!!! I feel so out of The loop. Lol. I had no idea so many were doing the races. I thought Smoothie was running the half. She is amazing. I was there to run the half, and like you, we never got the wake up call, so we slept and slept....and slept, all the Way until around 9:00. We also slept through our backup alarms on our phones. Obviously we were very tired from our disneyland trip. It's no big deal, though, because I was just going to run it as my slow long run, which I did today with Amy.

From Rachelle on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 20:09:03 from 66.7.127.115

What a fun day and big congrats on the race Teena! You are absolutely 100% capable of 3:20 at SGM. I have never been so certain of something in my entire life. :)

From Maynard on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 20:31:22 from 71.213.4.121

Excellent race, Teena! It was great seeing you pre- and post-race.

The Tarahumara in Midway makes some pretty darn good grub. I like that they have 1,435 salsa choices.

Dale~

That STINKS!!! But ... I am glad you and Amy were able to get out for a nice long run together. That is AWESOME! :)

Rachelle~

You are funny!!!!! If I hit 3:20 I will be ECSTATIC!!!! One of my biggest concerns, however, is that the XTERRA is two weeks prior. Yikes! I am going to still give it a go though. :)

Bradley~

It was GREAT seeing you! You did AWESOME!!!! Where is your race report? :)

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:05:24 from 24.10.249.165

We stayed up in Heber last night and were planning on lunch at Tarahumara today.

Closed on Sunday!

Rob~

That stinks!!! You definitely need to try again ... very very very yummy!!! I had the fish tacos --- DELISH!!!! And the salsa bar (that Maynard will attest to) is AWESOME!!!!

From Fritz on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:19:40 from 76.27.28.67

Great job Teena. 1:39 Half at 6,200 ft must equate to 3:19 Full at STG. :) No doubt. Only thing missing from this post is the golf pics. Wasatch Mountain is one of my favorites.

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:23:04 from 24.10.249.165

I've been there before. Not enough though!

Great race by the way...

From DaleG on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:26:19 from 66.87.64.189

Speaking of Tarahumara, I was saddened a few months ago when I read that Caballo Blanco had died while out on a trail run. Last I heard (a few weeks ago) they still don't know the cause of death.

I need to eat at that restaurant.

From Maynard on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:29:30 from 71.213.4.121

I'm suffering from writer's block. :

Oh! Dale, the autopsy revealed cardiomyopathy--they found a thick and dilated left ventricle--but some folks are questioning if that was really it.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Aug 19, 2012 at 21:56:41 from 71.219.159.37

Fritz~

Wasatch is one of our faves as well!!! :)

Rob~

Thanks!! :)

Dale~

You and Amy will love it. Good eats! :)

Bradley~

Well unblock it!!! :)

way to knock that 1/2 mary dead! Great time!

From fly on the Wall on Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 11:01:57 from 204.113.19.47

Nicely run! Good to see you!

You were very sneaky with that camera.

Don't hurt yourself at Xtera and you can easily run sub 3:20 at St. G! In fact I am worried that you will beat me! I've been lazy lately. Maybe I can use this as motivation to train.

From AngieB on Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 11:17:03 from 199.190.170.24

You are super mom! Wow 5 kids! Way to go on your race!

From Teena Marie on Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 14:32:19 from 65.130.110.68

Thanks Slick, Fly and Angie!!! And yes, Fly, I have mad paparazzi skills!!! :) :) :) Angie, I have looked at your blog a few times. You are amazingly fast! One of these days I would like to pick your brain a bit about when you started running, etc. I have a couple of kids who have been competing in the USATF youth events and doing well. I don't want to really push them this young but I do want to encourage them. I would love to hear your take on it. :)

From AngieB on Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 15:26:39 from 199.190.170.30

Yes for sure I would totally love to talk to you about it all. I started running when I was in the 6th grade my dad took me up to the Utah Summer Games where I competed in the 100 and 200 and long jump. I mainly sprinted in Junior high and High School but didnt start competing or training all year round til about High school. I dont feel that I was started too young. I wasnt pushed too hard until I hit HS and realized this could pay for my school and pushed it hard so I quit playing soccer and just focused on track. I would love to talk to you if you have more questions.
