So this race report is a long time coming. :-)

I had no idea what to expect going into this race. I definitely had the training miles in but ... I rarely rarely rarely pushed the pace. This training season was all about enjoying myself and relishing in all of the miles with Ry, Smo and Shelbey. I had SO much fun this training season. The most fun I have had running in a long time. Running rarely (if ever) felt like a chore as I had such great company and was NEVER in pain. Not one single niggle!!!!

Since I became a full time physical therapist (18 months ago) I watched my marathon times get slower slower and slower. I absolutely LOVE my job but I am no where near mastering the whole full time job while being a mom and running to my potential thing. I know many of you do it, and do it well, but I am still learning! :-) Hence I went from consistently running in the 3:20s to:

Boston 2014 3:38:03

SGM 2014 3:31:08

Boston 2015 3:42:16

And don't get me wrong, it's not like I wasn't trying during those marathons, things were just not falling in line.

So needless to say, even though I was secretly hoping for a sub 3:25 this year at SGM (crossing my fingers that since I had zero pain that maybe just maybe I would sneak it in there) I can in no way be disappointed with a 3:30:04. Albeit I really wished I would have pushed 5 seconds harder at some point! ;-)

It's my best time in two years (SGM 2013 was a 3:25:42) and I had SO MUCH FUN training for it!

Side thought:

I think if I really want to hit one more marathon PR in my lifetime (my marathon PR is 3:23:50) that I am going to have to talk myself into running some 5Ks, 10Ks, and halfs. I have not done any of those distances in two years which may be one of the other reasons for those slower marathon times above. As well as my age, of course. ;-)

Also, and is the norm for me: Started too fast but loved running with Becky! Paid for it the last 10 miles, as previously mentioned that is my usual mode of operation! HA! :-)

Time to make some goals. Going back and forth on another XTERRA!

Peace out!

Finally your SGM report. You did amazing! I don't think you need to do much speed work to run a fast marathon and you're nice and healthy! That is the best part. Enjoy the XTERRA.
