Boston Update:

I have decided to go to Boston and have the time of my life!!!! :) :) :)

This morning's PT appt:

Okay, last night I worked with another PT who said that she thought she knew of a PT that could help. The PT, who has some incredible clients (NBA players, WNBA players, Ballet West, REAL players, etc.) talked to me over the phone last night and agreed to meet me at 6:45 this morning. WOW!!! How lucky am I?

First, let me just say that every single person I see seems to have a different diagnosis for me. This morning was no different. But I am hoping and praying that this diagnosis is right. I have to study, so I will try and make this quick:

After messing around with my leg a bit he said that the calcaneus and talus were out of alignment. He said this would explain the sudden pain with no warning signs. According to him anything could have caused it, a mis-step, pivoting wrong, hitting it on something, etc. He did some mobilizations and I heard a few pop pops. Immediately I had much more flexion and extention in my foot. He told me then to hop on the treadmill and run. He warned me that there is a ton of pressure in my lower leg, likely because of my ongoing issues with compartment syndrome and the impingement caused by this misalignment. He said this pressure will make it uncomfortable to run, even painful, but he wants to see if the stabbing pains come back. I hopped on at an 8:34 pace and ran 1/2 of a mile. Lots of pressure, no stabbing pain! He said that is a good sign. He wants me to run tonight or tomorrow night for a handful of miles and see how it goes. He then wants to see me again Thursday morning at 6:45 to mobilize the joint once more. He thinks there is a decent chance that I can run this race without causing any permanant damage if I can deal with the pain. I am going to deal!!!

I am so happy!!!! :)

True, Boston is not going to be what I had initially hoped ... but it will be Boston!!! :)

Most importantly:

Thank you everyone for all of your encouragement, love, prayers, healing vibes, kind words, and support. You have no idea how much it has meant to me. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

YAY! You will have an awesome time in Boston!

Sounds like you finally got a doc that knows what he is doing. And, 6:45AM appointments... How nice of him to go the extra mile for you!

SSF ~ I'm soooo glad he got you re-aligned and you can run with no further damage. We have to super careful though! You are the toughest of all toughies I have EVER EVER met! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! Still keeping my prayers that the swelling will decrease and SAFE running! Lots of luvs and hugs! :)

SWEET!!! I am so happy for you. It's going to be a blast. You and Ryan will love being in Boston together. It is such a fun city and then when the rest of the gang shows up it will be the icing on the cake. See you Saturday.

Teena, when I said to run the race Biggest Winner style I meant run/walk it like you see those that run it on Biggest Loser. That way for sure you get it done and for sure you are NOT injured for life. You could inspire so many beside you too that are struggling cardio and muscular endurance-wise to stay at it and for you it would be easy except for the pain of course that would be more minimal if you took it down a notch. 9 minute pace? even a 10 or two or three just to be out there cheering yourself and others on. Of course if you feel better pick it up and have the some good times!! YOU GO GIRL!!! : D

Yay for Teena!! Go have a blast! Don't know if your plans include a Red Sox game, but if they do, cheer the home team on for me. I love Fenway.

If that little package Slick has for you is a cigar, I want a finish line photograph!

From MarcE on Tue, Apr 13, 2010 at 22:46:41 from 206.225.68.187

Yay!!!! (I was sort of hoping you would be there...hey, they make these cool shoes with wheels in them...I think they call them wheelies. That might help get through some of the tough miles. ;) See you on Saturday!

NO UPDATE???? How did the run go last night? Or are you waiting until tonight?

Do you leave Thursday or Friday?

From crockett on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 16:42:12 from 216.49.181.254

Great news. Hope all continues to go better. I've gone into many races with big worries. Usually they don't bother me during the race. Hope the same will be for you.

From Teena Marie on Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 23:48:25 from 174.52.45.85

Thanks everyone!!! Seriously, I feel so so so lucky to have all of you as friends. I hate being so busy at school/work/etc. because I can never get to all of your blogs nearly as often as I would like to. You have no idea how much it means to me that you would still take the time to comment on my blog and give me so much encouragement. I owe you all big! Thank you!

Run went decent tonight. :)
