Came home from church during the third hour because my leg was swelling and hurt. I don't know what to do. We are suppose to leave for Boston on Thursday.

My concern is that even if I run the race slowly, that I will not be able to finish it. I do not want my first Boston experience to end that way. I am so conflicted.

Anyway ... just wanted to get that out there.

Thank you everyone for all of the kind words and encouragement. Everyone has been so wonderful. For whatever reason, my body just does not like to cooperate with me sometimes. It makes me feel so wimpy -- but it is what it is. I am obviously still learning what will and will not work for me.

Love you guys!

Swelling and pain.....hey, can you say "RICE" it?

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 16:40:03 from 174.52.45.85

Yep!!! :)

I have been very diligent with the RICE! :) I'll keep at it. :) :) :)

My dear SSF ~ I am so so so so sorry to hear this. I have been so worried and praying like crazy for you the last 24 hours. You've been down this road before. It breaks my heart to see you going through this yet again at the worst time possible.

Please know that you have done everything humanly possible. You have pushed your body to the limit. There are things that we have no control over and we simply have no answers for. You have sacrificed much. I hope that you will find PEACE and move forward with faith in the days ahead. Please know that I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!

Oh Teena. . . . I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles, especially right before Boston! Wishing you the very best, hang in there, Boston is so much about the experience---if you feel like you could run it, even slowly, it would still be an amazing adventure. You are smart though, just listen to your body. GOOD LUCK GIRL!!!

From Benn Griffin on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 17:22:15 from 96.240.245.142

You still have a week before Boston. I'll echo everyone else when I say rest, ice, compression, elevation.

I will send good thoughts and prayers your way. You've done the work. Now try to relax and recoup and you will have a super Boston. You can and WILL do it!

How does some Bob Marley sound?

Don't worry about a thing

'Cause ev'ry little thing gonna be alright

You're in my prayers too. One way or another, Teena, you'll get through this.

From RivertonPaul on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 21:46:55 from 97.50.192.31

I wish I had some magically delicious way to comfort and console you in addition to Lucky Charms. You are in my thoughts.

From Bec on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 22:18:31 from 76.23.55.210

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

From Kelli on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 22:55:35 from 71.219.92.128

You are anything but a wimp, that is for sure. You are one of the toughest people out there. You do so much, do not be hard on yourself.

BIG PICTURE, right? Whatever you decide to do, it will be the right thing!

From Brent on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 23:00:34 from 66.7.127.219

T NA NA - question? Did you qualify at St.George last year? If so, it is good for the 2011 Boston also. Good luck, hope you can enjoy the experience.

Thats true girlfriend, you managed two shots at Boston with your BQ at SMG. This year you'll get some valuable experience for your super run in 2011 with me!!!!!

Oh Teena! I just realized that you are going through all this! I am so sorry! None of us understand why we have to go through some of the things we do, but we DO become stronger as we face these challenges! I'm sorry you are having to become so strong though! :) Please be careful with your decision! Running the marathon could set you back even further! Prayers and thoughts are being sent your way! Go

SSF -- You are the best. Thank you so much for the much needed phonecall today. I am so so so lucky to have you in my life. Just talking to you today helped. Sorry I am such a big baby. I love you. :)

Amber -- Hi!!! Thank you for the kind words. Did you know that I love telling people the story about you making phone calls before crossing the finish line to win at PC??? I tell it all of the time. One of my faves!!! :) You are right ... Boston is for the experience. Thank you so much for the reminder.

Benn -- Hello! You are so nice to take the time and offer words of encouragement. Seriously, runners are so good to each other. Thank you so much. It gave me the extra boost I needed. :)

Bradley -- I LOVE Bob!!!! And I haven't been able to get that song out of my head ever since reading your comment. I can't tell you how great that has been ... since I am not a good enough multi-tasker to sing a little Marley and have negative thoughts running through my head at the same time. :) Thank you.

Paul -- You NEVER cease to make me laugh. Lucky Charms??? That actually sounds great right now. Thanks for the smile!!!

Bec -- Thank you!!! I know that you know how I feel. I appreciate the genuine kindness. Thank you thank you thank you.

Kelli -- Big picture! Absolutely!!! :) Like ... when are we going to Red Mango??? :) Love you!

Brent -- Yep, I qualified at SGM. I qualified last year too but missed Boston due to a stupid stress fracture. You would think I would learn my lesson ... maybe this time I did. Maybe!!! ;)

Slick -- AMEN!!!! :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 23:56:34 from 174.52.45.85

Kim -- Thanks!!!! It is hard to know what to do. I am giving myself the rest of the night off in regards to making that decision! :)

Injuries stink. But they are part of the territory for most of us.

You have always been so thoughtful. Thank you so much. Sending Tom my very best. Hope he starts feeling better quickly.

From allie on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 00:30:31 from 67.177.0.102

so sorry, teena. you have a great attitude about all of this and i really hope it all comes together for you this week. take care.

From Andy on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 07:24:26 from 198.60.114.178

You are very smart and I know you will make the right decision, whatever the right decision might be. With PT school coming up, this may be your last chance for a few years. If you feel you can finish the marathon, regardless of the time, I think you should go.

From vinh on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 07:51:48 from 75.77.22.187

Real bummer Teena! I wish I could give you my leg for Boston. I hope the pain goes away and that you will have a great Boston experience.

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 11:37:33 from 66.239.250.209

That is terrible news, and makes me feel bad. Good luck this week with whatever you decide.

I think you should RICE, Ibuprofen, pray and go for it.

From Teena Marie on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 13:29:38 from 155.99.200.74

Allie -- Thanks! You know I think the world of you.

Andy -- I wish I knew whether I could finish. Stink. What would you do? If I don't run it maybe I can heal in time for Ogden and the rest of the races ... or get the fasciectomy and possibly be running again by June. I am so confused. So so so confused. Because maybe, just maybe, if I ran it nice and easy I could run it without doing any more damage and still be healed in time for Ogden. Sigh. I wish I had a crystal ball!

Vinh -- I wish you could too!!!! :)Thanks for the nice thought! :)

Scott -- Wish I could ice all day at school. Stink ... why doesn't ice stay icy???? :) Thanks for the kind words.

From Kelli on Mon, Apr 12, 2010 at 18:43:21 from 71.219.92.128

You know I am always up for ice cream, even if it is the healthy kind! You say the word and I am there. I am just a stay at home with nothing to do, when you can fit me into your BUSY schedule I will FLY there!!!!
