Just kind of ...ish again. Not awesome, but certainly not bad. :)

A few mishaps: gun went off while I was in the POP; dropped my inhaler twice and had to run back to get it each time; and I got lazy around mile 9. I had it in my head that I wanted to run a sub 1:40 (hard-hard but not max out) and once I knew I had that my umph kinda disappeared. I know I didn't run as hard as I should have because once I saw Andy (whom btw, did AWESOME) with about a mile left and he told me to pick up the pace, I realized I had plenty left in the tank. Oh well, at least there won't be any recovery time involved! :) I didn't think about running this race until a couple of weeks ago when my SIL asked me to pace her the last 10K of the full marathon. That is where my heart was, and that was by far the best part of the day (that and seeing Brooke so many times during my half -- I just love her and was grateful to toss my inhaler to her at mile 7ish so I wouldn't have to worry about that dang thing dropping again)!!!!

A HUGE congrats to my SIL, Annie http://andrea27.fastrunningblog.com/ for finishing her first full marathon!!!!! :) :) :)

Fun day!!! :)

Nice strong race, especially considering you jumped in the last minute. Glad you had a fun day!

From timp on Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 16:48:43 from 66.167.50.123

sounds like a good day!

some races are just meant to be for fun, right?

From Steve on Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 18:32:24 from 75.169.109.145

Great race! It's all I can do to stay ahead of you ladys.

From Andy on Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 18:34:23 from 174.52.172.236

Just to clarify, I did not tell you to pick up the pace because you were running slow. I said it because you were at the top of the hill and in the home stretch. You accomplished what you wanted today and came away without hurting yourself. Well done.

From Walter on Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 22:11:20 from 24.2.66.36

Way to go TM! looks like you did well considering your poopy start. lol They went off Chip time in this race which fouled Rob up a bit. So you couldve waited for everyone to leave and run your own race. lol

SSF ~ I think you did AWESOME for deciding to run this at the last minute!!! :) Your heart was in helping Annie and Karen with their first marathon! With all the mishaps you still came in at what you wanted! Sounds like you had a fun day...nothing wrong with having something left in the tank IMHO!!!

I am so proud of you!!! Love you and miss you terribly!!!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Apr 16, 2011 at 23:18:13 from 67.2.100.158

Jeff~

Thanks! Even though it was not a stellar performance, I am hoping that it will have served me well in preparation for Ogden. :)

Tim~

That's one of the beauties of running ... so many different outcomes! :) :) :)

Steve~

Yeah right!!!!! Dang you ran fast today!!! :)

Andy~

All I know is that I should have picked up the pace sooner!! So glad you were there!!! Next time run fast enough to start hollering at me at mile nine!!! :) :) :) It was so much fun to see you and Becky today. (Btw, how is Becky's leg?)

Walter James~

Well, it was better than a kick in the pants! I definitely think I need to work on speed though. I get too caught up in just kinda moving along without putting in the effort I should as of late. Dang me! But then again ... I'm having a good time! :)

SSF~

Once again I missed you SO SO SO MUCH!!! Races just are not the same without you there! Thank you so much for being my SSF and making me feel like a million bucks no matter what. I love you!!! Now get some sleep tonight and tomorrow night!!!! You are going to rock Boston's world! :) :) :)

great job today, teena. nice job with the marathon pacing as well -- a great day and another solid week of training for you. keep it up!

From DaleG on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 02:21:42 from 67.2.16.238

Awesome, Teena!!! I thought about you and all the others running the races while I was laying in bed. I knew you wold do well, you always do.

By the way, can I get an inhaler at the store or are they prescribed by a doctor? I have trouble breathing every time I run. Maybe I need one.

From glidergirl on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 05:04:45 from 155.100.9.11

You looked so good out there Teena! It was so fun to see you, it made my day. :) Way to go out there and run hard even after so many 70 mile weeks...that is amazing! And that is awesome you could help your SIL, she will never forget that. :)

From Kelli on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 14:30:29 from 71.219.97.85

That mile 9 is where I kind of hit a mental block when I ran it two years ago....something wrong with that mile!

Nice job! I wish I had known your were pacing someone in the full, I would have hung around and cheered for you two!

From Annie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 15:17:58 from 204.99.160.102

THANK YOU SO MUCH TEEN!!! My last 6 miles wouldn't have been near as succesful with out your coaching! You are the best sis in the world! Now I just don't know how I'm ever going to run my last 6 with out your help! LOVE YOU!

From RAD on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 20:25:53 from 98.202.17.113

Nice work Teena! I wish I could run like that 'just for fun' :) How neat to help Annie with that last 10K! Sounds just like the amazing person you are.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 22:33:09 from 67.2.100.158

Allie~

Thanks! It was a GREAT day. Annie (my SIL) was amazing. Being able to be a part of her first marathon reignited the fire I once had. She was so incredibly tough. :)

Dale~

I use Ventolin, and it is prescribed by my asthma doc. I thought I saw some form of inhaler at Target once, but I might be totally off. Sorry, I wish I had more info for you. :(

Brooke~

It was so much fun seeing you!!! And it is me that will NEVER forget running the last 10K of Annie's first marathon with her. One of my favorite running memories EVER!! :)

Kelli~

I wish I would have known Scott was running it. I was able to watch the first 8 male marathoners run in. I should have known Scott was running, but I have been such a lame blogger. I get my stuff up, but am sporadic with checking on everyone. You know how life gets sometimes. Seriously, Scott did AWESOME!!!! :) :) :)

Sis~

No, THANK YOU!!!! You have no idea how much I loved EVERY second of it. I have always felt close to you, but those last miles of your first marathon were definitely a bonding experience that I would not change for anything. I was so impressed with everything about you. Being able to witness you fight those demons that appear during the final miles of a marathon (especially your first marathon) and the triumph, success and joy that followed was something I will never forget. I love you so much.

Rachel~

Maybe I misrepresented my run in my post. I wish I could run like that "just for fun" as well. It was a fun day, for sure, but even though I did not reach puke pace, I was running hard. I just didn't have the umph to push to that next level. You know what I mean? I'm not sure what my deal is right now. I thought by reducing my mileage this week that I would get some of that umph back. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way. I am going to try and hit 70 miles again this week and trust that the higher miles will pay off at some point. To be honest with you, I really have no idea what I am doing. Sigh. I guess we'll just see where it takes me. :)

From Rob Murphy on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 22:42:57 from 24.10.248.6

Bummer that I didn't see you at the start or finish Teena!

Will you be at Ogden this year?

From Annie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 22:45:24 from 204.99.160.102

We've watched each other bare a child...I think its fair to say we've had a few bonding moments! But yes, yesterday will forever be stuck in my mind as an amazing day that was more amazing because I had someone to share it with. I am going to try and find a way to forgive you for ruining my chances to beat that one guy at the end. He only beat me by 0:00:02! POO!

From Fritz on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 22:57:41 from 67.182.226.25

The gun going off while in the POP? I regularly have nightmares about that but thanks to you it appears that it can be overcome.

Still looks like you had a good race and then ran another 6 miles (I hope you didn't do these before the race). Keep it up!

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 23:03:07 from 67.2.100.158

Rob~

Yep! I love Ogden!!! :) Plus ... I need to hang around you so that I can increase my chances of getting my pic in the paper!!! The only other time my mug has graced the paper is when I was screaming like a crazy woman as I was watching Allie approach the finish line winning the D-News marathon in 2009!!!:) :) :) See ... I learned a long time ago that it is not about how fast you can run ... it's about how fast those you know can run!!!! :) :) :)

Sis~

Next time we need to hook you up with a blue-tooth or something. That way I can scream "BEAT HIM" and he won't realize that you are about to rock his world! :) And yes, you are so right ... we have had some solid bonding moments!!! :) :) :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 23:09:17 from 67.2.100.158

Fritz~

That's a fair nightmare!!! :) I think I might have a POP curse hanging over my head on account of purposely locking myself in one at mile 23 of my first marathon. If my hubby wouldn't have been pounding on the door kindly yelling at me that I needed to come out and finish what I started I might have stayed in there indefinitely! :)

From Annie on Sun, Apr 17, 2011 at 23:17:32 from 204.99.161.72

HAHAHAHA!!! I'm going to laugh about that for a long time! Dang men and their egos!
