10.9 miles - AP 7:51 (logged all but my first mile at marathon pace even though they varied a bit. Effort was consistent).

SO MUCH FUN THIS MORNING!!!! :)

Had 15 or so people for our group run at the Porter Rockwell Trail. Everyone must have heard that the TOU womens' champ was going to be there (thanks for coming Allie)! :)

Ran with Mark (huans32), Vinh, and Marty (well most of the time ... they left me in the dust the last few miles -- I was more than thrilled just to keep them in sight)! :)

5.47 gradual up then 5.47 gradual down.

Felt strong throughout. Pushed a bit at times but overall it felt comfortably hard but nice.

Splits: 8:50, 8:25, 7:59, 8:11, 8:05, 7:29, 7:24, 7:35, 7:35, 7:35, 7:11

Quick question: My shoelace came untied (go figure -- it was double knotted) with only .23 miles to go. I quickly went back and forth whether to stop or not. I ended up stopping (knowing me I would have tripped and got hurt 1 week before SGM - ask Mark). BUT ... at the end of a race ... do you stop or just press your luck?

THANKS EVERYONE FOR SUCH A GREAT MORNING (LOVED HAVING BREAKFAST AFTERWARDS)!!!! :)

End of the race kick it off and finish kenyan style:)..

So, looking at your splits you are in great shape. You held steady and even picked it up at the end. I know your going to set STG on fire! Smart pacing and it's yours for the taking.

From Smooth on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:09:39 from 67.41.235.104

I'd leave them untie at the end of a 5K race. But at the end of a marathon, I'd be glad for an excuse to stop and tie them. At SGM one year I stopped on the downhill at mile 19 THREE times to readjust my shoe laces because the tongue and shoe lace were cutting into my tibialis tendon on the crook of the ankle.

Anyway! GOOD JOB! You were flying this morning. Didn't you say you were going to take it EASY! Hah! :) GREAT confidence builder to run 11 miles at MP. You are going to PR big time next week. I'm so excited for you!

From Smooth on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:12:10 from 67.41.235.104

Oh yeah, you stopped to tie your shoes and still came in with the fastest split...does that answer your question?

From Teena Marie on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:17:43 from 174.23.122.157

Mike~

I am getting so excited and nervous!!! I love this feeling!!! :) :) :)

Okay, got it: Kick it off!!! :)

Smooth~

It felt good this morning. I pushed comfortably hard because that is what I did two years ago right before SGM. :)

As for my shoe, I stopped my watch while I tied it. Usually I would LOVE an excuse to stop, but this morning I was feeling strong so it was kind of a bummer. Oh well ... it did give me more kick in the end because I looked at my watch when it came untied and it said my average pace for that mile (up to that point) was 7:15.

From Kelli on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:29:31 from 71.219.65.246

Still ticked I had to miss it!!! Glad it was fun. Now, was this Vinh from the blog Vinh???

I would totally tie my shoe. As for you---triple knot it!!! We do not want you falling.

From Huans32 on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:56:38 from 98.202.0.57

Great run today Teena. You were running very strong. And I couldn't even hear you breathing. Maybe because you were killing me on the way out.:) As for the shoe lace. That is crazy. Double knotted and still came undone. Wasn't it loose at the end of it again?? I am debating about getting those Yanks shoelaces for my trainers. Like I have in my racing flats. So you don't to worry about it at all. They are always tied.:) But if its the end of the race go for it. But anywhere before it. Better tie it. Or if you need to do anything with your shoe do it.

From Huans32 on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 13:57:16 from 98.202.0.57

Oh yeah Kelli it was Thee Vinh.:) From the blog.

teena - you looked very strong and relaxed when you flew by us after the turn around. you had a great pace going and your form looked awesome. i think you are going to have a great race next week. thanks so much for giving me the opportunity to run with you guys this morning. what a fun group of people. you sure kept me laughing!

best of luck to you next week. keep working on that height thing -- we'll both get to that 5'7'' someday...i have hope :)

From Maynard on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 14:48:05 from 71.213.46.75

Have you stopped shivering yet? You, Smooth, and Paul were almost shivering in sync!

Great run this morning. Thanks!

From Kelli on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 14:51:18 from 71.219.65.246

Dang, I missed THE VINH and THE ALLIE, all i one day. (I love the rest of you, too, I have just already met ya!)

BUMMER---stupid snack shack!

From allie on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 14:58:31 from 174.19.51.35

i forgot to comment about the shoelaces. i always triple knot mine for a race...or i just wear crocs :)

From RAD on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 15:34:02 from 67.172.229.125

I'm with Mike - finish Kenyan style! I don't think I'd be able to start again if I stopped, bent down tied my shoe and tried to stand back up again. I'd take the risk of a trip over a DNF :)

Nice work this morning Teena! You are such a strong runner that it scares the pee out of me when I think I'm trying to finish 5 min or so behind YOUR best time, you're an animal and I love to watch you lead out strong and fast!! You are such an inspiration.

Can't wait to see you smoke it at SGM next week!!!

From Tom Slick on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 16:33:06 from 69.171.160.4

good jog today on your run. you held a great steady pace. now continue on your taper and don't blow it by going out and running too far and too hard this last week....Might I suggest a schedule like: SUN: 0 miles, MON: 4 miles @ 5K pace, TUE: 3 miles- 4 X 400, WED: 2 miles, just a shake down jog.....Get as much extra sleep and rest as you can!!! Good luck, see ya at the finish line.

Oh ya, nothing on thursday and friday!

From Doone on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 17:45:21 from 184.10.153.95

11 miles at marathon pace one week before the race - crazy and awesome at the time. I am getting seriously bummed that we won't be there to see everyone. Have a great week getting ready for SGM. ABout the shoe, stop and tie. It beats it rubbing your feet weird because it is loose.

From DonGardinero on Sat, Sep 25, 2010 at 18:04:24 from 75.162.102.119

Looks like I missed out on a great run this morning. Wish I lived closer. I was working on my furnace with my dad today.

Nice run!!!I'd say you're ready to go.

As for the shoelace, I have a lot of thoughts about that, but I am too lazy right now to type it up. LOL

From Teena Marie on Sun, Sep 26, 2010 at 11:18:45 from 174.23.122.157

Kel~

I'm ticked that you missed it too!!! It has been TOO long since I have seen you!

Mark~

The uphills I felt very relaxed. It was so much fun watching you zoom back down. Wish I could run downhill like that! You are awesome!!! :)

Allie~

I suppose I am going to need to hang out on my inversion table 24/7 if I am going to make the 5'7" goal!! :) :) :) You are so much fun to hang with (not running, of course, I would die trying to run even one mile with you). :)

Bradley~

I was cold ALL day!!! You should have seen me at the kids' soccer games after. I was wrapped in two blankets and my teeth were still chattering! :)

Rachel~

You will do GREAT!!!! Seriously ... you are speedy and tough!!! :)

Slick~

I am really trying to stick to my taper plan religiously. What I have planned for this week is 6 miles tomorrow (w/4 at MP), 1 mile swim on Tuesday, 4-5 easy miles on Wednesday, and then a 1-2 mile jog on Friday to loosen things up. :) What do you think?

Doone~

It felt right. I am happy with how the run went. I really really really wish you were going to be at SGM. You will be missed.

Dale~

We missed you! How did the furnace turn out?

From Brent on Sun, Sep 26, 2010 at 13:59:16 from 66.7.127.219

T NA NA - nice positive run with a Kool crew, yanks are the best if you get them adjusted just right. It may seem silly to non-runners, too tight, too loose, stop and tie, etc. may cause you to lose more than a few seconds. Happy feet are important. Yes, Gene is great to chat with, he has some great sub three hour marathon times on the old Des News course.

Have a nice day, with Bon Jovi, B of BS Rools out

From RivertonPaul on Sun, Sep 26, 2010 at 22:16:13 from 174.19.60.121

Way strong effort on your part, now have a great SGM.

From AmberG on Sun, Sep 26, 2010 at 23:38:00 from 75.162.131.210

What a great run Miss TEENA! You are very strong, nice splits and way to finish!

. . . . and I agree with Mike: Kick it off! No time to tie! :)

From fly on the Wall on Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 10:57:43 from 204.113.19.47

You are on fire and ready for a huge PR. Get some rest and then fly on Saturday!

Double knot with a drop of superglue, if that's what it takes.

From Andy on Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 11:55:10 from 159.212.71.77

Sorry I missed the party. Very excited to see how well you do on Saturday.

From artichoke on Mon, Sep 27, 2010 at 22:07:46 from 97.126.189.91

Bill Rodgers tied his.

From Rhett on Tue, Sep 28, 2010 at 17:55:01 from 184.10.154.226

TEENA, what's up! Are you starting to feel ready to run a smokin' fast race on Sat? I can't wait to see how stinkin' fast you are.

From Doone on Wed, Sep 29, 2010 at 19:27:17 from 184.10.153.95

I just wanted to wish you good luck for an amazing PR race on Saturday. You are going to do it and have fun while you are at it also. Have fun and write your race report soon so we can read about it ASAP. Good luck and Have fun!!!

From Teena Marie on Thu, Sep 30, 2010 at 02:32:15 from 174.23.122.157

Thanks Brent, Paul, Amber, Fly, Andy, Artichoke, Rhett and Doone!!! :) :) :)

You all are so good to me. I apologize for taking so long to respond, things have been crazy busy.

So, Bill Rodgers stopped to tie his shoes or he just tied them right from the get go??? :) :) :)

I'm looking forward to the party at SGM. Should be fun!

Once again, thanks for all the words of encouragement and support. I really do appreciate them!!! :)

From fly on the Wall on Thu, Sep 30, 2010 at 10:56:23 from 204.113.19.47

Boston Billy stopped to tie his shoe, then continued on to win Boston and set a course record with 2:09:55.

From Teena Marie on Thu, Sep 30, 2010 at 18:54:41 from 208.54.5.68

Boston Billy is the man!

Dang Fly, I wish you were running SGM. I don't know what I would have done without you last year
