I am happy with how these went. The 6:59 felt great, the 6:49 felt decent, the 6:40 was a hard push, doable, but I worked for it big. :)

We know you have the endurance from all of the miles you have been putting in. Now you have shown you have the speed. Well done on an excellent workout. Was it on the road or treadmill?

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 13:38:20 from 67.2.88.232

It was on the treadmill. I am confident that my treadmill is calibrated correctly (at least very close to accurate if not). I am trying to run as many of my miles this week as possible on soft surfaces. I really really really am trying to do everything right. PLEASE offer any advice ... you have no idea how much I appreciate it.

From Andy on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 13:44:03 from 199.190.170.29

I wasn't implying that you didn't run that fast. I KNOW that you are that fast. My only advice is to not stress about running. You have already done everything right. You are very well prepared for Ogden.

I'm assumng that you will need to back off of running once PT school starts. Maybe you should focus on getting your 5k time under 20 minutes. You are probably very close.

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 13:53:43 from 67.2.88.232

A sub 20 5K. There is NO stinkin' way!!! Yes, I am worried that I will have to back off a bit with running during PT school. I think I can likely still hit it decently hard during the summer because we have Monday and Fridays off. But once Fall hits ... yikes, who knows. :)

Seriously Andy, I need you to help me these next 10 days. Really. I want to give Ogden everything I have.

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 13:55:15 from 67.2.88.232

Stink, now I am worried. I should have run today's run outside, huh?

From Andy on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 13:59:42 from 199.190.170.29

RELAX!! No, you should not have run it outside. I was just asking because of the progression of the splits. I couldn't tell if it was because you were speeding up or if you just bumped the speed up on the TM. Honestly, everything that you have done during this training cycle has been perfect for you. You are 10 days out and are healthy and in great shape. The only thing that you need to focus on now is your race plan.

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 14:34:06 from 67.2.88.232

Okay, this is what I was thinking as far as race plan: Use the course tool for a 3:27. Someplace in miles 8-10 evaluate how I am feeling. If I feel great then I will push it even harder. If I am barely holding on I will try to continue on course. If I am dying I will slow it down for a 3:30 finish. What do you think?

From DaleG on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 14:46:14 from 152.216.7.5

Oh Teena, I don't know who is stressing more about Ogden, you or Amy? She keeps thinking about dropping out because of all these things going wrong. First the pains in her face and head, the doctor told her not to run, so she missed two weeks of training, but then decided to resume and then she has pretty much missed two more weeks because the orthopaedic doc told her she might have a stress fracture. She found our yesterday that she doesn't have one and now feels that she won't finish the race before they take down the finish lineand she worries she won't get a medal.

I say you are ready and you should not stress anymore. We have all seen your amazing training and I have no doubt in my mind that you will do great.

From Lily on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 15:39:18 from 67.199.178.210

I think you are ready for this marathon. I also think you can do a 3:27 for sure. Go for it!

From Andy on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 16:15:08 from 199.190.170.28

Mile 8 - 10 is too early to tell if you can push harder. I would wait until you get to the top of the hill during the 15th mile. I would run 7:45's for the first 8 then back off to 8:00's through the half. After you get to the top of the hill if you run 7:45 the rest of the way you would hit 3:25, 7:55-8:00 would give you 3:27:xx. 8:10 for the last 10 miles would give you 3:29:xx. I should not be giving any advice because I have never run that race the right way.

From fly on the Wall on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 18:40:53 from 204.113.19.47

Fast, faster, fastest!! You are more than ready.

I like Andy's plan and hope to follow something similar. For me I also need to be careful coming down that hill, especially the 23rd mile. It is so steep and fast, I don't want to over do it.... Those last two miles can devastate me.

Gump, How many time have you run Ogden?

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 18:57:31 from 67.2.88.232

Dale~

Amy has been through A LOT!!! :) I hope you can calm her fears and that she will have a FANTASTIC race! :)

Lily~

Just wondering, how did you get a snickers bar towards the end of your TOU amazing debut???? For whatever reason that soundly heavenly right now!!!! :)

Andy~

I really really REALLY like that plan! :) :) :)

Fly~

Are you going to wait for me at the end? I am sad that Andy won't be there. He was there last year. I need someone to look forward to seeing!!! This will be my third Ogden. The first time I ran it it was my second marathon and I ran it in 4:12. Then I ran it last year 3 weeks after Boston and still coming off injury in 3:38. So if I can come in sub 3:30 it will be a huge course PR for me. If I can come in under 3:27:02 it will be an outright PR. :)

From RivertonPaul on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:01:21 from 67.42.27.114

I agree with Andy. Unfortunately, like Andy, I've never run Ogden with the necessary restraint early to really be able to open up late.

From fly on the Wall on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:15:19 from 204.113.19.47

Baring unforeseen circumstances, I don't see how you won't run under 3:27, you may beat me to the finish! If not, I wont have hobbled away.

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:25:29 from 67.2.88.232

Paul~

Okay, that sealed the deal. I will be a good student. :)

Fly~

I won't beat you to the finish so I am happy to hear that you will not hobble away!!! :)

From fly on the Wall on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:39:18 from 204.113.19.47

So, who has run Ogden the right way?

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:48:04 from 67.2.88.232

That's a very good question. Anyone?

From Lily on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:53:26 from 67.199.178.210

Teena, I packed the snickers bar in my fuel belt. I really believe it totally helped me. I think I started eating it at mile 17 or 18. :) It was heavenly....mmm go get one

From RivertonPaul on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 19:56:54 from 174.253.183.214

I know this is very juvenile but I could imagine The unwrapped snickers falling into your shorts And causing quite a scene.

From fly on the Wall on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 20:03:32 from 204.113.19.47

Juvenile, maybe. Funny, definitely!

But really, I've heard of worse happening.

From Lily on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 20:07:02 from 67.199.178.210

LOL riverton! Kind of like that picture Walter posted on his FB profile a while back. The guy with the runs on his run. Ahahaha

From timp on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 20:07:52 from 66.167.50.123

Teena - very nice

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 20:25:13 from 67.2.88.232

I could care less what I look like if I get a sub 3:27!!!! :) :) :) (You are so juvenile, Paul!!!! :) :) :) )

Hmmm ... I need to think about who might be watching the race around mile 20? Is there any viewing spots around there? My mind is blank! I know there is a good spot around mile 17. That might work. :) :) :)

From Andy on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 21:13:05 from 174.52.172.236

Anybody surprised that Paul dragged the conversation into the gutter?

From Teena Marie on Wed, May 11, 2011 at 21:26:26 from 208.54.5.71

Surprised? Nope!!! Paul seems to have a gift. ;)

From Scott Wesemann on Thu, May 12, 2011 at 12:38:36 from 66.239.250.209

I LOVE snickers, but I don't think I could eat one during a marathon. I gag really easy :).

I am excited to see how you do at Ogden. Nice speedy miles.

SSF ~ Another AWESOME SOLID run!!! GREAT pace for the 3 mile repeats! I have no doubt you are going to get that outright PR!!! You have endurance + speed + plan = SUCCESS!!!! Love you!!!
