8 miles with my SSF

Went to Lehi High School to do some speedwork on the track. I know this sounds crazy, but I have NEVER ran on a track before. My speed as of late has really been quite stinky, and hence I have avoided working on it since I hate being disappointed with the splits. What a copout.

~ 2.25 miles warmup

dynamic stretching

5 X 800 meteres with 400 meters jog in between (albeit I walked 200 meters after the 3rd and 4th 800 ... seriously ... what a baby.)

Splits for the 800 meters were: 3:29, 3:29, 3:28, ? (forgot to hit the lap button), 3:25

The best part of the run by far were our cool down miles (~ 2.25) which we did barefoot on the astro turf on the football field. I LOVED THAT!!! It felt so good to run barefoot on that surface. Every now and then I would run a sprint or jump in and out of a tire that was on the field. Too bad there is not an astro turf marathon. Man that was heavenly.

One last thing:

MY SSF ROCKS!!!!

(SERIOUSLY ... THERE IS NO ONE ELSE LIKE HER! HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY?)

Awesome job on the speedwork! The track is fun for a change isn't it?

From allie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 21:37:58 from 67.177.0.102

nice speedwork! consistent splits and a strong finish. way to go.

that's it...we need to create a barefoot astro turf marathon. how many laps would that be? ;)

Tim --

Thanks! Yes, the track is fun but I felt so weaksauce!!! I really would like to get my 800s to 3:20 consistently.

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 21:43:44 from 174.52.45.85

Allie -- The discouraging thing is that I could run 100 800s faster than this in March. That stinks!!! My legs just feel so tired and heavy lately.

Okay ... 46,112 yards in 26.2 miles ... so that's what, 461.12 repeats of the football field?

Let's do it!!! :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 21:44:18 from 174.52.45.85

NOT 100 800s, I mean 10 800s, of course!!! :)

From allie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 21:51:32 from 67.177.0.102

well you did just run a marathon two weeks ago. no need to be discouraged! i am just starting to overcome the "tired and heavy" feeling in my legs and my race was a month ago. the speed will come back. then you will be doing 100 x 800M again like it's nothing. :)

are you running UVM?

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 21:55:58 from 174.52.45.85

That's the plan! I am beginning to wonder what I was thinking. My first marathon was in 2006, and before Boston I had run only 5 marathons total ... and yet for some silly reason I have registered for that many in less than 6 months. What was I thinking?

From allie on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 22:01:31 from 67.177.0.102

you will do great! that race is turning out to be "the race" to run this summer. it seems like everyone will be there. should be lots of fun. good luck.

From RAD on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 22:57:30 from 67.172.229.125

Nice work Teena! I'm so glad you got some good miles in with your AMAZING SSF! You two are one of a kind and I simply feel blessed to know both of you!

I'm with Allie, I think the tired feeling is just the 2 marathons back to back. Take UVM easy and just run what you feel - don't push it. Then rest up for Park City with SSF and run WITH her. I was privileged enough to get that amazing experience last year and wouldn't trade it for the world!! It's a horrible course (elevation etc), but Smooth makes it FLY by!!

From MarcE on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 23:02:52 from 204.16.82.120

Great workout! I need some speed, too! Thanks for the reminder. See ya in less than 2 weeks.

From Smooth on Mon, May 31, 2010 at 23:09:27 from 174.23.172.155

SSF!!! WOW!!! Look how consistent your splits are and STRONG finish!!! I watched you run from behind, from across the field and from the front...you have perfect form...not one ounce of tiredness or pukiness exerted/shown. You did it perfectly. Don't be disappointed by today's splits. You ran 2 marathons in the last 6 weeks...that's the nature of the game!

Yep, you're right...there's no one else like me! THANK HEAVENS...just ONE of me IS BAD enough!!! :}

LOVE YOU!!!!
