Hillwork today!!! I think sleeping in yesterday helped me this morning! :)

10 miles @ 7:57 then one cooldown mile

The plan was to do one warmup mile then see how long I could hold marathon pace with 5 miles of hillwork in the middle. I knew this would be tough, but wanted to see if I had it in me. Decided I better run at the gym so that I would have an added incentive not to quit.

0.0 - 1.0  warmup, 0% incline: 8:34 pace

2.0 - 3.0   0%  incline: 8:00 pace

3.0 - 3.7   3% incline: 8:00 pace

3.7 - 4.7   1% incline: 8:00 pace

4.7 - 5.0    6% incline: 8:00 pace

5.0 - 6.4    1% incline: 8:00 pace

6.4 - 6.8    4% incline: 8:00 pace

6.8 - 7.4    1% incline: 8:00 pace

7.4 - 8.0     6% incline: 8:00 pace (This was SO HARD.)

8.0 - 9.0     0% incline: 8:00 pace

9.0 - 10.0   0% incline: 6:59 pace (YES -- SO HAPPY!!!!)

10.0 - 11.0  cooldown

*** I am very happy with this run. It was hard for me, but I was happy with the results!

Wow, great workout, very tough. Way to go.

From DonGardinero on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 14:18:07 from 75.162.103.89

Impressive!!! You make my workouts look like I'm a beginner.

From Smooth on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 15:04:12 from 174.23.198.220

WOW!!! You ran all those hills at 8:00 and then have enough speedy juice to run a 6:59 for a whole mile at the end!!!! You are TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH STRONG STRONG STRONG! Were you picturing the Newton Hills while running?! All these hill running is gonna pay off BIG time on April 19! WOOHOO! I am SO HAPPY for you! AWESOME run! You're ROCKSTAR ****!!!! LOVE YOU! :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 15:46:19 from 67.168.154.220

Wow! Sweet looking workout! Especially that 6:59 mile toward the end after hills...not even a mention of the Puke Zone...you must be very close. Oh, by the way, Sean Sundwall and his sister Sommer Reynolds(they are in my ward) are running Boston this year. She's about your same speed...maybe you guys will be able to run together...there are only what...20,000 others?

From Lyman on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 16:43:44 from 170.135.241.45

Awesome push through some VERY STEEP miles!

So when do you start your taper - those are some serious inclines woman!!!!

From Andy on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 17:21:24 from 159.212.71.77

You should be happy with the run. Excellent job.

Holy Cow you rock!

From RivertonPaul on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 18:22:35 from 67.42.27.114

Looking very strong. Keep it up.

GREAT JOB on both of your running days this week little Miss Teena! You are going to do great in Boston on those hills. I can not imagine running at an 8 on 6% incline, I would have keeled over and fallen off.

I am SO glad you got some REST!!! You need it.

From JulieC on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 21:52:33 from 207.224.204.251

extremely impressive, care to run my tush up Suncrest? I think I will be looking for a rope tow next to you!! Really, we should run Suncrest, right Smooth? Also sorry about the outdoor comment I forget not all of us have the luxury to run outdoors anytime during the day with the kids all in school! YOU ARE INSPIRING!!

From Teena Marie on Thu, Mar 18, 2010 at 23:06:39 from 174.52.45.85

Tim -- I hope you are right! :)

Crocket -- Thanks!!! Wish I could have even 1/10th of your super-endurance powers!!!

Dale -- You make me laugh!!! You are tough as they come!

SSF -- Yes, I was picturing the Newton Hills. I have to admit though, there is no way I could do this at the end of a marathon. So ... who knows how it will pan out! Miss you!!! :)

Jeff -- I was in puke zone that last 6/10 of a mile on the hills. :) Yeah, 20,000 give or take :).

Lyman -- I wish I had the scenery you have!!! (Minus the fog, of course.)

Kristi -- I plan to run a 22 miler next Saturday. Then I will begin to taper. :) Is it really that soon??? Wow!!!!

Andy -- Thanks!!!! I really hope you know how much I appreciate all the encouragement and advice you have given me.

Kathie -- You my dear are the one that ROCKS!!!!

Paul -- I'm hoping to!!! Scared to death though!!! :)

Kel -- You and I both know that you eat hills for breakfast. Literally!!! Okay, when are you going to let me work on your hamstrings? (While we eat our Red Mango, of course.) HEY ... maybe we (you, Smooth and I) should get together sometime next week! We could hang out at my house while the kids are at school!!! Perhaps Friday when Scott is home?

Julie -- I could "maybe" stay up with you for about 7 seconds! MAYBE!!!! (And that's a stretch.) :) No worries about the outside comment ... I definitely want to be there!!! My kids are all in school, the problem is that I am as well! STINK!!!!! :) Someday. :)

Awesome workout Teena! Very impressive! You are looking great!

From MarcE on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 10:41:23 from 206.225.68.79

Just checking in on you, Teena!! Great to see you running happy (and I presume still drug-free!).

You're gonna PR at Boston -- but only if you don't make the typical rookie mistake (that I made). Resist the temptation to run faster than marathon pace in the first 7 downhill mile. It would be so fun to run a sub 3:30 with you at Boston...

From Kelli on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 12:50:29 from 71.219.89.82

Red Mango, take-out lunch, and a hamstring massage, sounds good! Do you think my hamstrings will still hurt in a week? If they do, I am in trouble!!!

From RAD on Fri, Mar 19, 2010 at 14:57:52 from 67.172.229.125

holy moly girl! My TM got stuck on a 6% grade the other day & I was trying to run a 9mm and was DYING!! I had to switch TM's for my last 5 min 'run'! You are one tough chicka!! VERY impressive.

From kellies on Sat, Mar 20, 2010 at 12:54:06 from 63.248.32.71

Wow!!! Teena, you are an animal! You are going to kick Boston's butt for sure!! NICE WORK!!! I would have died early on in that workout and you managed to keep enough fuel in the tank to pop out a 6:59 for the last mile!?! IMPRESSIVE!!! Way to go, I am so proud of you. You "should" be happy with that workout! I miss you! Hope all is well. Lots of love~
