Not really sure how I should translate mountain biking miles into cross training miles. I'll need to figure out a better way of doing this because I definitely have to work harder than I do on the upright bikes at the gym or on a road bike.

Anyway ...

Roughly 10 MTB miles on my new bike -- which I love!

This was my first time riding in clips ... wow!! I took three spills but only one of them drew blood. :) The spills were as follows: once trying to jump a log and twice during a super steep but short ascent (when I failed to down shift enough). With my feet clipped in I would be sliding back before I could get them loose ... then WHAM ... on the ground! (Ry was a saint not to laugh ... seeing I have been talking trash.) I kept giving it a go until I figured out what in the world I was doing. I have *a lot* of work ahead of me before the XTERRA. But other than the bitter cold ... IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! :) :) :)

The "true" mountain biker has the following motto: If you don't come back muddy or bloody, you didn't try hard enough.

At least that's what I'm told.

Good work, Teena!

How did the Christmas Eve Tri go?

T NA NA - the extera sounds fun, may sign up if still open after May - MTN bikes are a blast, you will catch onto the clips - well, I translate biking miles as follows: 1 hr biking equals 5 cross training miles if you working fairly hard. The way I figure it, 1 hr cardio effort, biking or swimming equals 5 running miles.

Happy Holidays, have fun, where ever the trail leads.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Now maybe Ryan can keep up with you on the bike. I hope you two and your cute kids have a wonderful Christmas.

SSF~

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas as well!!!! How was the movie? Love you! :)

Rachel~

I just saw your bad news! :( :( :( I am so so so sorry. That completely stinks! You will have to be super careful coming back to running (I wish you could have dropped the object more strategically and not on your 2nd metatarsal ... next time remember that) because as you probably are already aware your second toe takes a lot of stress during running gait, especially if it is longer than your big toe and if you pronate at all (particularly with speedwork). So just be careful coming back. I realize you probably already know all this ... but a friendly reminder never hurts. I truly am sorry Rachel. Hang in there! I know you will! (Perhaps you should get into the XTERRAs!!!)
