10.13 miles, AP 8:33 (Sophia joined us for the first two miles and then it was me, Ry, JohnnyV and Josh). :)

I have L*O*V*E*D running with Smo these last handful of days. Her goal is to run 2 miles per day, 5-6 days a week for a little while. Sasha spoke with her at a recent track meet and was kind enough to send us some additional information that I believe will help her. This is totally in Sophia's hands. I know her, and when she really wants something she is able to see the big picture really well and put in the work. She dreams of running in college ... specifically she would LOVE to run for Oregon. She knows that she will need to put in a lot of work to have a shot but is going for it.

I am definitely going to be Sophia's biggest fan but I am also going to monitor her and make sure she does not do too much. She is little and I constantly need to remind her to SLOW down on our morning runs. I also need to remind her to eat more and to go to sleep earlier. The one thing I do not have to do is get her up in the morning for a run. I told her that was up to her ... if she didn't get up then I was going to let her sleep. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't putting pressure on her. True to form she is up every morning around 6:00 a.m. ready to run. That girl is something else! :)

Hi Teena. I haven't talked to you forever. I was at the track meet at East high school a few weeks ago. I didn't know that was your daughter who won the 800 until after. She is so cute. She is way fast and tiny just like you. I love that she wants to run with you. To run for Oregon would awesome!

Julie,

You were there??? Dang!!! How did we not see each other? It would have been awesome to catch up. So ... obviously you were there for a reason. Tell me about your runner(s). :)

My 14 year old son ran the 100 that day. He does the hurdles and long jump as well. My daughter is one of the coaches for the Marv Jensen team. It's so much fun. Do any of your other kids run as well?

Awesome! :)

All of my kids run a little bit. Two of them are very competitive: Sophia (11) and Oliver/Sherm (10). Sophia does more distance while Oliver is a sprinter. :)

Very cool that your daughter coaches. :) This is our first year running with a club (Murray). Last year we simply did the USATF meets and discovered that Sophia and Sherm really love the whole running thing. Sophia likes to train, but Sherm just likes to show-up and race. It will definitely catch up to him if he doesn't start putting in the effort. But right now we are just encouraging our kids to stay active and follow their passions. :)

Hopefully we will meet up again at a meet. I know that Monday we are at Jordan High School but don't we all go to Kearns on Friday and Saturday for the all-county meet?

Sounds like you have a future star budding there. That is fun as a parent. Soon you won't be able to keep up with her

We'll be at the meet at Kearns on Saturday. I'll come find you. It will be fun to see you again. :)

Rhett -

I already can't keep up with her on short distances!!! :)

Julie -

I looked for you but couldn't see you anywhere!!! I saw the results for your son. He did AMAZING!!! 1st on the 100 m hurdles, right? :) :) :)

I was bummed I didn't get to go find you at the meet. My son got invited to go boating, so we were out of there quick. I had my daughter Taylor watch your daughter race. She was so impressed with her. She said Sophia just blew everyone away. Taylor runs the 800 too. It's a tough distance. Way to go Sophia.
