11.25 miles, AP 8:34

Another plan that didn't pan out. Wanted to do my 20 miler today (since Saturday was going to be crazy busy). Felt it would be best to do on the TM with the current leg problems. Kept thinking the legs would warm up and begin to behave. Tried varying speeds, etc., to see if it would help. Finally shut her down at 11.25 miles.

This is what I think is going on:

L medial tibial stress syndrome and secondary soleus tear. Problems began in July. Continued to run while trying not to cross the red line.

R anterior shin splints. No warning signs. Likely a compensation injury.

Lower back/SI pain. This is definitely a result of all of the sitting during hours of classes and studying.

** Looking back at my injuries over the past few years I see a pattern: they all happen during stressful semesters that require a lot of sitting and when my back begins to hurt. Really, I am not that old!! :)

i'm sorry to hear about the leg problems. i totally know that "crossing the red line" feeling and it's not fun. i do think it's neat, however, that you can diagnose your troubles so precisely (you are learning a lot!). all of my injuries have occurred during very stressful times at either school or work. i think sometimes we don't realize just how much of a toll stress takes on our bodies. good luck, teena. i'm thinking of you and hoping for the best! healthy legs!

Thanks Allie!!! :)

I keep having to remind myself that our bodies have to follow the laws of nature, regardless of how much our spirits want to do. :)

PT school is super hard but incredibly AWESOME!!! I keep telling myself that I am getting roughly $500 dollars smarter each week!!! :) :) :)
