Gun time: 3:50:07 (don't know chip time ... probably only about 30 seconds faster).

Mixed feelings about this race. Rested my leg for 3 days straight in hopes of getting the inflammation under control well enough to pull the distance off. Didn't race full out, but didn't totally slack off either. Walked through all of the aid stations (for too long). Leg held up decently. Gave me a couple of fits but nothing too serious. Is inflamed now, but will hopefully settle down in a day or two.

Roughly 3 minutes slower than last year. Overall placing higher, but division placing lower. They gave out cool looking awards which I was disappointed not to earn. (They did not pull out the overall three from their respective divisions, had they I would have gotten 3rd and a very cool looking plaque, stink. But truly, I didn't earn it ... so all is fair and right -- just wishin'. :))

Dropped from 2nd overall placing in the Grand Slam to 3rd overall placing. Need to decide whether or not I will run TOU. Probably shouldn't, but who knows. My leg might surprise me. Oh please oh please oh please. :)

Overall I am satisfied (just a pinch of disappointment from the slower finish this year and I missed Andy pacing me the last 10K --  not that I could have run any faster today ... just missed the company). This race was an excellent indicator of my present fitness. Coming to terms with the whole balancing family, school, church, sleep, running thing. :) :) :)

LOVED spending time with my SSF/Larry, Lowell, Rachel, Karen, Becca, Slick and Bill.

Highlights:

Mile 17: Got love from my SSF, Becca, Rachel, Karen and Lowell as we crossed paths.

Mile 23: Ran with Bill. :)

School starts again Monday. I'm guessing that my blog time will be limited. Looks to be a tough semester. I am certain that I will be killer smart by Christmas for sure!!! :) :) :)

Here's to a great week ahead! :)

You did GREAT consider the little training, and the bummer inflammation in the leg. I hope you had FUN!

Way to go woman, great effort at a super tough marathon! Thanks for your super support in my day at the PCM. Get some great recovery time in and have a great easy day at the TOU getting ready for the SGM!!!!

From Andy on Sun, Aug 21, 2011 at 14:10:26 from 174.52.172.236

Very good and smart effort. If you do not need TOU for the slam I would skip it. It sounds like you are managing your leg injury very well and you do not want to push it over the edge. With everything that you have going on, it is alright for running to take a back seat for a couple of years. You are still incredibly fast.

great job, teena! you ran a smart race and i am so glad your leg held up for you; now you can take some time to let that inflammation go down. best of luck with the new semester and all the other things you have going on. you're superwoman.

Nice job Teena! That is a tough course and you still did great even with the nagging injury and super busy schedule. I see the PT guy on Thursday. That was his earliest appointment so I suspect he knows what he's doing. :)

You are such a tough runner! I think you did amazing!! Good luck starting school. I always found the first day to be so overwhelming, getting that syllabus and realizing everything that you've got to do for the semester is killer, but you are super woman remember that!!!!

Nice work Teena! You do such a great job with all those hills, all you needed was a good screwdriver around mile 20 to really get things moving to catch those last couple minutes :) I had a great time with you and I'll just say be smart and don't let pride interfere with your body and healing!

Nice job Teena. Sound like a solid effort on a tough course. Any day at a race with that scenery has got to be a good day.

good luck with starting the new school term!

Great race Teena. That is a great time for this course.

T NA NA - when the going gets tough - the tough get going, with Teddy, be one of the rough riders. It is interesting how we place so much stock in a piece of metal, the recognition of placing when the real measure is our own effort. If your happy with the effort, you are a champion. The slowest in the race, who is to say that runner did not give the most effort. Some runners are gifted, some bring the gift of running to others. Keep sharing your gift, be healthy for STG if giving it your best effort is your champion for the day. I expect nothing except your best effort at STG.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

By the way, TOU, I would say 10 to 12 minutes slower than STG - your call.
