Sprint (with elliptical instead of run) at the gym again. I think I really love this workout. I'd love it even more if I could do it with the actual run instead of the elliptical. But for now, this will work! :)

I pushed myself hard. Loved the endorphin rush I got afterwards. :)

** Doc said I could try a test run tomorrow if there was no focal tenderness and/or pn in my tibia tomorrow. Just checked ... still tenderness. :(

nice work, teena. i'm glad you are finding ways to have fun on the elliptical :)

that's great news that the doc cleared you for a test run -- hopefully the tenderness goes away very soon. i relied on the hop test (10 hops on the injured leg) to ensure i was ready to run again.

slow, easy, and careful! :)

10 hops??? Oh man, Allie ... even the thought makes my heart race. (Probably not a good sign.)

Do you remember if you could do that before or after the focal tenderness was gone?

The doc (Toronto) said my fracture should heal relatively quickly because it was vertical instead of horizontal. He said somewhere between 2-4 weeks from the time I saw him. I was getting all excited thinking I would be able to run tomorrow but now I am feeling quite disappointed because of the tenderness. (I have tried not to check it often purposely trying to focus on the positive instead of the negative.) I had high hopes that I would not feel a thing since I am walking pain free (although every now and then I will feel something ... but I wouldn't describe it as pain).

Anyway ... yadda yadda yadda. :)

that's quite a focused workout for such a little girl? Glad to see you on the good foot!

teena -- the pain went away pretty rapidly once i stopped running on it, but the "tenderness" took quite a bit longer to go away. i guess it's kind of hard to describe what i mean by tenderness though, because that can be perceived differently from one person to the next. at first it was impossible to press on the area, and i would squirm at just the thought of touching it. that went away in about two weeks, but i could still feel something there for another 2 months. i felt weird pulling/tingling sensations at random times all the way up to TOU, and even now i can still feel it sometimes, although it is not at all painful -- it's just there, if that makes sense. i was walking normally and no longer experiencing any pain after about 2 weeks, but the thought of doing the hop test scared me. the doctor said i wouldn't be afraid to try it if the fracture was healed, and he was right. when you are ready for it, it won't seem like a bad idea. i actually tried doing it when i knew i wasn't ready (just as a test), and my brain wouldn't allow my body to even do one hop -- it just didn't feel right. "no allie, this is a terrible idea, no hopping yet." i guess the body is good at protecting itself that way.

Thanks Slick! :)

Allie~

Your description(s) helps me a lot. Thank you. :) I think I will wait a bit longer before I try and run.

NICE sprint-tri, SSF!!! That is excellent workout! :)

WAY to stay positive!!! :) :) :)

allie ~ you're the best! NICE sharing of your sf info and experience. Yep, our body sure has a way of protecting itself and wonderfully heals itself. It is such a marvelous thing! You're being very smart and patient during this healing process! :) :) :)
