LOVE THIS RACE!!!

Highlights:

* Picking my SSF up a little after 3:30 a.m. and chillin' with her!!!

* Chatting with Smooth and Rich Borget on the bus ride up.

* Hanging with my SSF and Maynard at the starting line. And get this ... out of nowhere Smooth climbs into a garbage sack that some guy (who none of us know) IS WEARING!!! SO SO SO FUNNY!!!

* The rain!! Oh how I love the rain!! :)

* Running with so many old and new friends! (Natalie, Mark, Slick, Marc, Canyon, Andrew ... I'm sure there were more but my mind is fuzzy right now.)

* Getting my powerade from Andy at mile 9!!! (Bummed that I didn't see Alisa at her station).

* Realizing around mile 15 that I could PR -- deciding to try!

* Seeing Prez. Smooth at mile 20.5

* Seeing Andy and his girls drive by and holler in their vehicle

* Tom Slick pinching my tush at mile 24 (startled me then made me laugh)

* The site of Kelli with .75 miles to go. As usual, at the end of a marathon I think I have nothing left. Kelli assured me that my breathing was great and that I could run faster. I trusted her and with her encouragement (i.e. "Teena, don't let those guys right there beat you ... got it ... sprint ... now!!!") was able to pass a bunch of men. SWEET!

* Rhett and RivertonPaul cheering at the finish line.

* PRing by 1 minute and 43 seconds. :)

* Having MrsFit (Kristi) hang my medal around my neck! Volunteers ROCK!!!

* Watching my SSF cross the finish line with a smile on her face and NO CHARLIE!!!

* Enjoying so many friends at the end. Man ... some of you bloggers had KILLER times!!!

*** Seriously, absolutely LOVED this race!!!

Got home and enjoyed hanging with the family. We saw Karate Kid and then went to a pizza buffet place!!! I ate so so so much and feel great!!! :)

From Mike Warren on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 10:18:15 from 74.211.5.221

Wow great race! I think STG is faster, so stay healthy and lets see what you can really do in October. Amazing how many races you have been running. I saw you and Smooth right before the start, but no time to say hello, next time.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 11:25:43 from 174.52.45.85

Toby --

Thanks!!! Yes, it freaked me out at first, but then I saw it was Slick. You just have to know him!!! It actually was amazing how the little surprise refocused me during the run. Weird. Maybe I should pay some one to pinch me at every marathon at mile 24. Wait!! Not sure my hubby would go for that! :)

Rachel --

This was such a fun race. Thanks for always being so encouraging. Slick is definitely one of a kind! Gotta love him!!! :)

Andy --

I'm 100% positive that it was the powerade!!!! Seriously, I'm not sure where it came from. I walked through every aid station and felt great afterwards -- no limping and eating like a mad woman! Seriously, when I push myself 100% I can never eat afterwards. I think I like racing this new way. :) :) :)

Julie --

Thanks!!! I can't believe how crazy and strong you are. Just read your race report and am in total awe!!! :)

Allie --

It was so so so much fun! I have had a sore throat and ear ache for a couple of days so I didn't know whether it would be smart to race or not. But when I saw that it was going to rain I couldn't miss it. I LOVE THE RAIN!!! The sore throat and ear ache turned out to be non-issues during the race. They are kicking my butt this morning though! :)

Rob --

It was a FANTASTIC race. I absolutely LOVED the course. More uphill than I expected but perfectly placed and easy on the body. I will definitely run this race again. LOVED IT!!! Congrats again on your Masters' win, the plaque, and nice little check! That is AWESOME!!!

Mike --

Thanks!!! I don't know how Smooth talked me into running the Slam but it has turned out thus far to be a very positive experience. My speedwork speed has decreased, but my marathon pace seems to be coming easier. I suppose it's a tradeoff when you run this many back to back marathons. YES ... SGM is the goal for both of us, right? Let's both stay healthy and kill it!! (You had an amazing UVM.) :)

SSF --

Doing those things for you was my pleasure!! You are my SSF!!! You have no idea how fun it was to watch you cross the finish line with a smile on your face and no charlie!!! Oh yeah ... I need to add that to my report. Okay ... going to do it right now!

Love and miss you already!!! :)

From Brent on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 11:27:47 from 66.7.127.219

Kristi --

Thank you so much! I need to come to one of your races. Two weeks, right? You seriously amaze me!!!

Burt --

No ... you are QUITE awesome!!! QUITE!!!

Brent --

Thank you. I love running in the rain. For whatever reason the rain helps me run more relaxed. I loved it!

From RivertonPaul on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 12:43:52 from 97.117.120.35

Congrats on the PR, way impressive.

From cheryl on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 21:14:54 from 67.166.68.69

Great job, Teena. Congrats on a PR, that is really awesome.

From Kelli on Sun, Jun 13, 2010 at 22:30:11 from 71.219.93.114

Amazing that two can PR with 2 marathons in the last two months! You are an AMAZING runner!!!! I could not believe how good you looked at the end, I would have guessed you had only run a half marathon at that point!

1 more marathon down, many more to go!

From Scott Wesemann on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 00:20:38 from 75.162.93.167

Congrats on your race and PR. That is sooo cool. It sounds like you had an amazing time even with the rain.

From KP on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 09:35:13 from 65.208.22.26

Congrats on the PR!!! That is awesome!

BIG congrats on the PR!

From Teena Marie on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 11:29:08 from 174.52.45.85

Paul -- Thanks!!! It was fun chatting with you after the race. You killed that course! Another congrats! :)

Cheryl -- Thank you so much! I am thrilled that my body is holding up so well. I can't help but wonder if it is because I have been in a constant taper since the end of March. Who knows.

Kelli -- Thank you so much for running me in. You really did boost my morale. Yes, here is to many more marathons. I was just looking at the San Francisco marathon. It is on a Sunday. I know Smooth won't go for that, but I couldn't help but think of what a fun girls road trip that would make. Dang.

Scott -- It was so so so much fun. When is your next race?

KP -- Thanks!!! Nothing quite beats running in the rain. It was perfect!

Tim -- Thanks!!! It was about time! :)

From Doone on Mon, Jun 14, 2010 at 16:39:22 from 184.10.154.170

Thanks Kelli.

Josse -- Any chance that was around 2-3 miles before the finish? I thought I heard someone holler my name (in front of me and to my right) but when I looked I didn't see anyone. Thanks for the holler either way!! :) How are you doing?

From josse on Fri, Jun 18, 2010 at 11:54:10 from 75.220.22.118

Yep that was me! I am doing good, can't believe that I only have a couple more months left.
