Definitely not what I expected! It was just not my day physically BUT emotionally it has been a fantastic few days. SO happy I ran. The atmosphere and feeling here was AMAZING. It was a little different because Ry and I decided to hang out with mostly ourselves instead of hanging out with friends (we just haven't seen each other enough these past 16 weeks and needed the time). I did LOVE having dinner with Andy and Becky and hanging out with Becky at the start line though.

One of my slowest races yet. Didn't know exactly what to expect but I really believed that I was capable of roughly a 3:25-27. Crazy how off I was. :)

In hindsight I made some major mistakes. BUT ... I did the best that I could do considering my past 16 weeks. So I am totally okay with the time.

For my own future notes I am going to outline some of my training errors:

1. Vast majority of miles were on the treadmill.

2. I did very little cross training and/or strength training (I had every intention ... just not the time).

3. These past 16 weeks of internships I have really failed miserably on the nutrition aspect: eating out of convenience and not making smart choices (I am approximately 6 pounds heavier than I usually am when I race ... I'd be okay with that if it were muscle ... but sadly, it's not).

4. Lack of sleep.

5. Lack of proper hydration, etc.: My left anterior tib and triceps surae were battling it out. Caught me off guard.

5. Wore almost new shoes that I was second guessing anyway ... but they matched the best with my brand new running outfit (which turned out to be a mistake as well ... oops).

6. Started out WAY too fast. But considering that it felt relatively easy and wasn't out of line considering what I believed I could do I just went with it.

The one thing I thought I had going for me was that I was absolutely niggle free. Turns out that wasn't even close to enough. :)

Also, I didn't dare get in a taxi out of fear of cramping up too badly so Ry and I walked the 2.5+ miles back to the hotel. That actually helped a TON! :)

Congrats to all of you who had a FANTASTIC race! The ones I know of are: Becky (Andy's girl), AmberG and Rad. I'm sure there are many others! :)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Boston! :)

You're lucky to have been there. I think I caught the marathon fever after two years from watching today and reading your post.

Great race Teena. Looks like you had a blast. Thanks to you and a few others I didn't get much done at work this morning. :) You did great! Travel safe.

I'm jealous! It must have been an incredible year to run Boston. Thumbs up for your emotionally fantastic time!

Ry should write a spectator race report. Did he get to see Meb cross the line? That would have been incredible!!

Aww Congratulations Teena! Always just so awesome to soak it all in. You are great and I am so glad you were able to have a nice getaway with your husband. You absolutely deserved it!

So glad you had a good time and ran Boston!!:)

Reading your report makes me want to go back to Boston with Doone. You ran a great race and I bet you looked great with your matching shoes and outfit. :) You'll have to post a picture.

What I want to know is how everything went with all the new rules with gear bags (or lack thereof) and all the other security measures??

Thanks for letting us crash your alone time with Ry. Reasons 1-4 are all related to everything going on in your life right now and will all be taken care of shortly. You are in great running shape and will bounce back as soon as things settle down.

hmmm....i was more way off than u and made the same errors u mentioned. but boston , eslecially this year, was about the experience. Seriously Teena you are in tune with yourself! sometimes weoverthink things...and not realize it is othing more fhan not a race day for our bodies. lol i just say the words hip and knee....but maybe i should use the real words for the problem ailment. ha ha but i dont know them.....:-) i am referring to the battle between your two lower leg muscles/tendons. very nice to spend some time with your man ! hope recovery is going well for you.

Rob - Agreed! I feel super lucky to have gone this year. :-)

Matt - Thanks! Boston is always a party! :-)

Fly - He certainly tried! Due to the crowds the best shot he got of him was on the jumbo-tron! :-)

Rachelle - Spending time with Ry was WONDERFUL!

Tara - Many thanks! :-)

Rhett - Ha Ha!! :-) Everything went really well with security. It was GREAT! :-)

Slick - The one disappointment I had was not running into you!!!

Andy - We LOVED spending time with you two. REALLY!!!! Becky had a stellar race. It was so fun spending so much time with her. :-)

Julie - Thanks!!! There was so much going on that week. Needless to say what I thought was just allergies (started a few days before Boston) has developed into something that has had me crazy sick this past week. I am now on antibiotics and increased asthma meds hoping to find some relief very soon. I think my body is just stressed and tired. Final internship (including final inservice, etc) is now complete but I still have a job interview in SG tomorrow, my boards on Wednesday, graduation on Friday (which I am the speaker at the hooding ceremony), and then moving the following week. In other words ... two more weeks of stress. I need someone to knock me in the head with a two by four so that I can get a few hours of rest! ;-) (It's all good stress though!)

From fly on the Wall on Mon, Apr 28, 2014 at 17:10:55 from 168.180.63.241

YE GADS! I need to take a nap just from reading about what you have going on in the next few weeks.
